Ma. Mercedes Gaerlan-Loo, RN, MSN, LPT, PhD is a seasoned nurse educator, researcher, and academic leader with over two decades of experience in nursing education, clinical practice, and institutional development. She holds a Doctor of Philosophy in Educational Management from the Philippine Women’s University, a Master of Science in Nursing from Concordia College, and a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Santo Tomas.

Dr. Loo is currently a full-time faculty member at Centro Escolar University in Manila, where she also serves on the Institutional Ethics Review Board and is a part-time graduate school professor. She is likewise a part-time Graduate School Professor at the University of Perpetual Help System DALTA. Her professional background includes clinical experience as a NICU Staff Nurse at San Juan de Dios Hospital, which grounds her teaching and research in real-world nursing practice. She has held various academic leadership roles, including Research Director, curriculum and program development leader, and graduate and undergraduate thesis adviser. Her research interests include nursing education, faculty development, action research, and the integration of technology and artificial intelligence in healthcare education. She has published in both local and international journals and remains actively engaged in national and international academic conferences.
