  • Dr. Erwin G. Benedicto, Philippine Christian University, University of Perpetual Help System DALTA

     

    Erwin G. Benedicto is a distinguished medical professional with expertise in healthcare, public health, and medical management. He holds degrees of Doctor of Medicine, Master of Public Health, Doctor of Philosophy in Development Administration, and Diploma in Pharmaceutical Medicine and Management. He is recognized for his extensive work in the development and management of healthcare projects and programs, emphasizing practical application in healthcare settings. He also recently completed his post-doctoral degree (PhD in Healthcare Leadership and Clinical Governance) in The Thames International University in Paris, France.

    Hi last role in the pharmaceutical industry was the Southeast Asia Portfolio Medical Director of Johnson & Johnson, where he worked for almost two decades. In his function, he was able to forge strategic partnerships with the various health stakeholders in the South East Asian Region and in the Philippines, especially in the field of oncology, neuroscience, immunology, vaccines, infectious diseases and rare diseases.

    Dr. Benedicto has extensive knowledge and experiences in managing highly sensitive clinical trials of new medicine for humans. In his whole industry’s career, he ensured the ethical practice, quality assurance, and safety of clinical trials of innovative drugs in various clinical fields of medicine. He also led the various medical education activities and advocacies to support the introduction of new treatment options and to build the competence and confidence of the healthcare professionals to adopt to these innovative interventions. During the COVID- 19 global pandemic, Dr. Benedicto played a decisive role in the deployment of J&J COVID- 19 vaccines in the Philippines. He is also one of the key personalities in collaborating with the government and relevant stakeholders to deploy the community mental health program.

    He has contributed numerous scholarly articles, publications and textbooks on topics in the field of oncology, mental health, public health, program and project management in healthcare, and health system leadership and governance. He recently published two books entitled “Project-Program Development from Paper to Practice, A Project Management Guide to Healthcare Professionals” in 2024 and “Clinician’s Concept of Public Health” in 2025.

    He received various awards in the company, including the most coveted Johnson & Johnson Presidential Elite Award in 2021. He was also awarded as the Most Outstanding Alumni of the University of the Philippines for Health and Science in 2022 and most outstanding faculty of the University of Perpetual Help Dalta – Jonelta School of Medicine in 2015. He was recognized as the Outstanding Author of the Year and Outstanding Community Service of the Year by the EduHeart Book Publishing in 2025.

    He is also a trained, experienced and certified lead auditor of the following ISO management systems: ISO 9001: 2015 – Quality Management Systems, ISO 14001:2015 – Environmental Management Systems and ISO 45001:2018 – Occupational Health and Safety Management Systems.

    Dr. Erwin Benedicto is a licensed medical doctor. He is also currently the Chairperson of the Department of Microbiology and Parasitology, University of Perpetual Help Dalta – Jonelta School of Medicine Las Pinas City, and an adjunct professor of the Graduate School of Philippine Christian University. He is a recognized Fellow, Philippine Society of Experimental and Clinical Pharmacology, and Philippine College of Pharmaceutical Medicine
